Smaller rectangular neodymium block magnets or cube magnets are great for hobbies and perfect for sewing into the corner of a tea towel to keep handy on the front of the fridge.
Larger magnets rectangular magnets have been used in therapeutic venues for the relief of many physical ailments.
Neodymium Block Magnets N35, N45, 50 & N52 No matter what you call this category, bar magnets, magnetic blocks, magnet blocks or bar magnets, their basic geometric shape is a rectangle. Other terms used when speaking about a rectangular shaped neodymium magnet include magnetic bar, bar magnets or a magnetic strip. Bar Magnets may be used in industry and labs, and some of the smaller magnetic blocks may be used as arts & crafts magnets for many hours of enjoyment.
The strongest Neodymium Block or Bar magnets (shown on this page) come in many sizes. Neodymium Bar magnets range in size up to ¼ inch Here at CMS Magnetics we carry Super Strong neodymium bar magnets with a countersunk hole (or 2) already drilled in the middle to attach it to nonmetallic materials such as wood or plastic. These neodymium Bar magnets even allow the screw’s head to reside below or even with the face of the magnet to ensure it does not interfere with the Bar magnets function.

Safety Warning: These neodymium magnets are not for children. They may break and cut severely. Children that may place things in their mouths should be kept away from these magnets. If taken into the mouth these neodymium magnets may pinch across internal organ membranes with deadly results.
Neodymium magnets overall, are the world's strongest permanent magnets. Although, not all neodymium Bar magnets share the same characteristics. The Grade of a Neodymium Magnet will provide an idea of the strength of a neodymium magnet. The most common commercially available grades generally run N35- N52. N35 is the weakest (but by no means weak) and N52 is currently the strongest. There are some special use grades as well. A larger piece of neodymium of a weaker grade may be ultimately stronger than a smaller but higher grade piece. Our strong Bar magnets are designed & manufactured to meet stringent quality standards of both external and our own standards.
Neodymium Magnets are the popular choice for Homes, Work, Shops, DIY, Science, Hobby, Crafts, Office, Fridge, Science, Fair, Just Plain Fun, Alternative, medicine, Sorting metal items, Hold things up, Hold, things, down, Duvet, Cover, Closures, Hanging, Art, scarves, jewelry, belts, Handbags & Classroom Decorations.
How does a rare earth magnet work?
Rare earth magnets are derived from an ore that is primarily mined in China. Two elements are pulled from that ore that are used in the manufacturing of very strong neodymium magnets & somewhat less strong Samarium. These elements are combined with other elements to form an alloy. Neodymium (Nd) is mixed with iron (Fe) & boron (B) This is where the symbols NdFeB come from which you may have seen. Samarium (Sm) is combined with Cobalt (SmCo).
During manufacturing these alloys are magnetized. Differing structures within the alloys allow them to be magnetized to much higher levels than any materials before. The current technology can produce up to N52 neodymium magnets, which is the strongest permanent magnetic material in the world.
What type of magnet is the strongest?
Rare earth magnets, of which there are 2 types; neodymium & samarium cobalt. Neodymium is the strongest.
What is a Bar magnet?
The term bar magnet refers to a magnets basic shape. A Bar magnet is in the shape of a Bar
Is neodymium a rare earth magnet?
Yes, neodymium is one of two types of rare earth magnets. Samarium Cobalt is the other.
Why are neodymium magnets dangerous?
Neodymium magnets are dangerous mostly due to their extreme power. If you are holding a large N52 magnet & walk by another up to 3 feet away the other can jump off of the table and crash into the other. This happens so quickly and with so much force that If your finger gets between them during this it can and probably will, break your finger.
Children (of the put everything in my mouth age) have been known to take small neodymium magnets into their mouths. If swallowed the magnets may attract while in the very sensitive organs (stomach or intestines) and pinch the linings.
Neodymium if chipped is very sharp almost as broken glass and should be treated as such.
What is the strongest magnet in the world?
A neodymium magnet is the strongest permanent magnet in the world.
What is the strongest magnet you can buy?
Neodymium N52
Q. What is rare earth and where does it come from?
A. Rare earth is an ore dug from the earth, primarily in China that 15 metal chemical elements having atomic numbers of 57-71. You can find these elements near the bottom of the Periodic Table of the Elements in the lanthanides family.
Q. Where is neodymium found?
A. Neodymium is mined as an ore primarily in China. China is also where almost all of the processing into the neodymium alloy (that we know as neodymium) is done. Neodymium alloy consists of Neodymium, Iron & Boron. Still in China, alloy it is shaped into the discs, cylinders, rectangles, spheres & more that we know as finished magnets.
Q. Which neodymium magnet is the strongest?
A. Currently neodymium in the grade N52 is the strongest. This will probably change as technology advances to support higher grades. Stay tuned.
1 Children should not be allowed to handle super strong neodymium Bar magnets. Small Bar magnets are a choking hazard and should never be swallowed or inserted into any part of the body.
2 Individuals with pacemakers should not handle strong neodymium Bar magnets . Magnetic fields can affect the operation of these devices.
3 The strong Rare-Earth Magnetics Association is not aware of any positive or negative health effects from handling rare-earth magnets. CMS Magnetics & Magnets For Sale recommends however that pregnant women not handle very strong neodymium Bar magnets.
4 The strong magnetic fields of neodymium magnets can damage items such as television, computer monitors, credit cards, bank cards, computers, diskettes and other data carriers, video tapes, mechanical watches, & hearing aids.
5 When handling super strong magnets Rare-Earth magnetic products are very powerful and can accelerate a great speeds toward each other and ferrous material. You should always wear gloves and eye protection when handling strong rare-earth magnets.
6 You should avoid having constant contact with magnets of any size and keep a distance of at least 3 feet to large magnets.
7 Under no circumstances should you try to machine strong Neodymium magnets! These rare earth magnets will crack, shatter and create a flammable toxic dust.
8 Strong Neodymium magnets will lose their strong magnetic properties if heated above (150 C).
9 All of our strong magnets are plated with a thin layer of nickel, nickel-copper-nickel or gold. This layer (in particular gold) can wear down in the normal use of the magnet over time.
10 Any tool or toy, with strong neodymium magnets can be fun and useful, but must always be treated with care.
These are not the magnets you played with as children 15-20 times the force of those old time magnets. Never experienced Super powerful neodymium Bar magnets? Now is the time! Our rare earth bar magnets have a high saturation magnetization & tetragonal crystalline structure ensuring top physical pulling force & maximum energy product from these strong bar magnets . These hold very well against steel surfaces with direct touch and direct pull. The magnetic strength will last forever under normal use.
Many Uses & Users
Cms magnetics’ Bar neodymium magnets are used by school teachers machinists magicians engineering and manufacturing students hobbyists inventors technicians diyers mars rovers (yup up there) craft magnets uses hobbies therapy storage experiments science fairs magnetic bars labs garages schools offices refrigerator magnets & as a strong neodymium Bar magnets.
These powerful magnets neodymium are comprised of strong neodymium material makes them the strongest magnets of their size commercially available. They are axially magnetized so the north and south poles are on the flat surfaces, and the red line on one side of the magnet denotes which side the north pole is on. Neodymium magnets are strong magnets & are unique because of their extreme resistance to demagnetization and will only lose their magnetism if they're heated above 176 degrees Fahrenheit.
