neodymium bar magnets

  • Neodymium Bar Magnet: A rectangular magnet which is made of neodymium magnet alloy with its length being larger than its width and thickness.
  • Neodymium Bar Magnet Polarity: In most cases a rectangular magnet can be magnetized in one of the three directions, i.e. along its length NB00146-52NE, width NB00833-42NMS or thickness NB01711-45N . But since the tooling limitations, there is an upper limit on the dimensions you can magnetize in the real world. This number varies per manufacturer’s capability but the typically it is limited to 3”.
  • Neodymium Bar Magnet Strength: Based on the scientific formula, the pulling force of a magnet is proportional to the square of its remanent flux density Br, its thickness and the square rood of the touching area. In order to increase the power of a magnet, you can choose a higher grade magnet which has a higher Br value, or increase the thickness of the magnet, where the thickness is the dimension that the magnet is magnetized through. In most cases increase the thickness will benefit more than increase other dimensions till the thickness is equal to the width. Comparing with other material, the Neodymium Bar Magnets are the strongest permanent bar magnets since the Br value is significantly higher than the other material. With today’s technology grade N52 ( Br =1.44 Tesla ) is the strongest grade which can be made massively.
  • Availability of Neodymium Bar Magnets: Our Strongest Neodymium Bar Magnets are available, with the length from 1/8" up to 8". The Bar Magnets are available in all grades from N35, N40, N42, N45, N48, N50 & N52. The pull forces of these Super Strong magnets are from 0.36 LB up to 600 LBS. Besides millions of bar magnets available for immediate delivery, CMS Magnetics also takes custom orders for bar magnets. Feel free to contact us for details
  • The Tolerances of our Neodymium Bar Magnets:  All tolerances are +/- 0.002” and it can be customized too. The Maximum Operating Temperatures vary from 80 degree C to 220 Degree C by material grade which can also be custom made.
