Magnets This article is about objects, materials, devices that produce magnetic fields. Most of the subject matter here covers all neodymium magnets. We will in many cases be using ball magnets or Magnetic Ballsas our examples as they are the subject matter of the category.
A "Neodymium Ball Magnet" made of neodymium, an iron alloy. The magnet, made in the shape of a Ball or Sphere, the 2 magnetic poles, in this case, are through a little more interesting than usual. This shape of a magnet makes it very useful in both the industry and by the casual consumer. Magnet Shape is one of the major divisions of magnets. The magnet needs to fit where the consumer needs it to fit. Neodymium is a magnetic material that was applied to magnets in the 1980s. Neodymium is the strongest magnet in the world. Actually the material is the strongest permanent magnet in the world. The term “permanent” is just saying that you cannot turn it off & on at will as in an electromagnet.

The magnetic field can be said to be its area of influence. As you can see this Influence (strength) drops off sharply when moving away from the magnet.
Ferromagnetic materials can be divided into magnetically "soft" materials like annealediron, which can be magnetized but do not tend to stay magnetized, and magnetically "hard" materials, which do. Permanent Magnetic Ballsmagnets are made from "hard" ferromagnetic materials such as alnico and ferrite that are subjected to special processing in a strong magnetic field during manufacture, to align their internal microcrystalline structure, making them very hard to demagnetize. To demagnetize a saturated Magnets Ball, a certain magnetic field must be applied, and this threshold depends on coercivity of the respective material. "Hard" materials have high coercivity, whereas "soft" materials have low coercivity. The overall strength of a magnet is measured by its magnetic moment or, alternatively, the total magnetic flux it produces. The local strength of magnetism in a material is measured by its magnetization.
An electromagnet is made from a coil of wire that acts as a magnet when an electric current passes through it but stops being a Magnets Ball when the current stops. Often, the coil is wrapped around a core of "soft" ferromagnetic material such as mild steel, which greatly enhances the magnetic field produced by the coil.
