    Product Description

The 1.5" × 0.25" N52 Neodymium Disc Magnet delivers an intense 40 lb direct pull force, utilizing the highest commercial energy product manufactured today ((BH)max up to 52 MGOe). Sintered to absolute metallurgical saturation, this ultra-high-power disc is designed for advanced aerospace fixtures, scientific instrumentation, medical laboratory apparatus, and high-holding mechanisms where dimensional space is restricted.

    Technical Specifications

Grade Sintered NdFeB Premium Grade N52
    Dimensions 1.50" Diameter × 0.25" Thick (38.1 mm × 6.35 mm)
Pull Force (Case 1) 40 lbs (perpendicular breakaway against 1/2" clean structural steel)
Surface Field (Br) Approx. 2,650 Gauss at pole center (Residual Flux Density Br: 14.3 – 14.8 kG)
    Max Energy Product (BH)max 49.5 – 52.0 MGOe (394 – 414 kJ/m3)
Magnetization Direction Axially magnetized through the 0.25" thickness
    Plating / Coating Triple-layer Ni-Cu-Ni (Nickel-Copper-Nickel, ~12 – 18 μm)
    Dimensional Tolerance ±0.002" (±0.05 mm)
    Max Operating Temp (Tmax) 65°C – 80°C (149°F – 176°F)

    Primary Engineering & Commercial Applications

    • Aerospace & Defense Fixturing: Precision positioning jigs, temporary avionics mounting, and magnetic field calibration chambers where maximum holding per gram is required.
    • High-Efficiency Rotors & Generators: Experimental axial flux brushless motors, eddy-current brakes, and cleanroom magnetic drives.
    • Magnetic Filtration & Particle Separation: Intense localized magnetic gradient separation in fluid pipelines, chemical slurries, and grain processing hoppers.
    • Precision Robotics & Automated End-Effector Tooling: Maximum clamping strength in low-clearance automated assembly lines handling structural steel plates.

    Critical Safety & Handling Warnings

    • Extreme Crushing Hazard: At 40 lbs of breakaway pull force, Grade N52 magnets can snap together with violent velocity from several inches apart. Pinch injuries can cause severe bone bruising, deep contusions, or finger fractures. Use extreme caution and wear heavy-duty gloves.
    • Shatter Risk Under Impact: Grade N52 has the highest magnetic energy density and is mechanically fragile. Allowing two magnets to collide uncontrolled will cause violent shattering into sharp fragments. ANSI-certified eye protection is mandatory.
    • Pacemaker & Implant Interference: High magnetic flux fields can disrupt pacemakers, ICDs, and neurological implants. Maintain a minimum perimeter of at least 15 inches (40 cm).
    • Strict Child Safety Prohibition: Not for consumer or children's use. Swallowed magnets will attract through bowel walls causing perforation and life-threatening trauma.
    • Do Not Heat or Machine: Sintered NdFeB cannot be machined or altered. Operating temperatures exceeding 80°C (176°F) will permanently degrade magnetic output, and dry dust is a severe fire hazard.

    Mechanical Mounting Notes

    • Steel Saturation Thickness: To achieve the full 40 lb pull force rating, the contact steel substrate must be at least 1/4" to 1/2" thick. Attaching to thin 18- or 20-gauge sheet metal will saturate the steel, reducing holding strength by up to 50%.
    • Bolt-On Mechanical Alternative: If your assembly requires mechanical screw fastening rather than adhesive mounting, choose our encased Countersunk Cup Magnets.

    Warranty

This magnet includes a 10-year warranty for its magnetic strength, provided it is used under normal conditions. Usage in environments with elevated temperatures, significant vibration, or intense opposing magnetic fields will render this warranty null and void. It is also not suitable for use outdoors or in areas with high humidity or salt content, unless additional protective insulation measures are implemented.

      Great for wood working project

Posted by Paul on Oct 4th 2020

I am making several wall mounted bottle openers with a magnetic cap catch. These are the perfect size and strength magnets for the job. Please be careful with these magnets. I didn't follow the safety sheet and two of my magnets smashed together and were destroyed. 100% my fault and lesson learned. Great magnets... just use caution while handling them!

Really powerful magnets. Ordered 5 and they were really tough to separate, even with the plastic discs between them! They ought to do the job!

      Great Item!

Posted by Marc Mitchell on May 6th 2018

Magnets are really strong, more than meeting the needs of my project. Ordering direct from CMS avoids the amazon up charge, but free shipping was out of reach. Overall, great product, and I will be placing my order direct with CMS!
