This listing includes a top quality cylinder AlNico magnet which is made of AlNiCo 5 material. This magnet is 3/8" diameter x 7/8" long and magnetized through 7/8" so the N and S poles are on flat surfaces. This magnet has a holding power of 3.34 Lbs.
AlNiCo magnet has extraordinary temperature stability than the other types of permanent magnets so it is mostly used to make high temperature tools like oil drilling down-hole parts or fire alarm systems where high temperature is present
AlNiCo magnet also has a wonderful machinability than the other types of permanent magnets so it is also used to make the high precision machine parts.
The AlNiCo magnets are also used as guitar pickups.
Generally speaking, AlNiCo magnets are more fragile than neodymium magnets. There is no coating for this magnet.
