Product Description
Buy Ferrofluid for Fun! 400 Gauss
What is Ferrofluid?
This listing includes one liter of FerroFluid magnetic liquid for educational purposes. it is rated as 400 Gauss.
Product Trade Name : EFH Series Ferrofluid
Ferrofluid is a proprietary name for a fluid originally developed by NASA to help fuels flow correctly in space.
Use : Educational/Research/Artistic & FUN
Ferrofluids Chemical Family : Colloidal Dispersion
Chemical Composition of Ferrofluid: Iron Oxide (magnetite) 3 ‐ 15% Oil Soluble Dispersant 6 ‐ 30% Distillates (Petroleum) Hydrotreated Light 55 ‐ 91%
NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN UNDER THE AGE OF 12
Ferrofluid is basically an oily based substance with very small (magnetic nanoparticles) particles of an iron based magnetic substance with a little bit of a surfactant & there you have it, a substance that will disperse itself evenly in the fuel and when subject to a magnetic field will allow that previously non magnetic fluids to flow through the gas lines while in space.
What is Ferrofluid & What Does Ferrofluid Mean To You!
What does this mean to you? As a budding scientist of perhaps someone that just likes really cool stuff it is a great toy be careful in can be a little messy. (Probably not for children younger than 12) Ferrofluid magnetic liquid allows you to actually see some of the effects of a magnetic field & its magnetic properties.
There are many recipes for ferrofluid but the basic one runs about 5% magnetic solids (metal particles), 10% surfactant and 85% carrier (oil based product).

What is Ferrofluid? AKA: ferrofluids ferofluid, ferrifluid, ferrous fluid, fero fluid So many misspellings, The correct spelling is Ferrofluid.
In short, it is a liquid that responds to magnets and magnetic fields. The longer answer is ferrofluid is an extremely fine powder, coated with a soap-like material called a surfactant, suspended in a mineral oil liquid base. Watch the suspended particles dance as a result of the magnetic field. The resulting magnetic suspension is called a ferrofluid.
When no magnetic field is present, ferrofluid behaves and flows like a normal liquid. However, when a magnet or magnetic field is introduced, the ferrofluid is attracted to the field. Spikes then form along the magnetic field lines when the magnetic surface force exceeds the stabilizing effects of fluid weight and surface tension.
Please take care when handling ferrofluid. Besides being fun to play with, it also is capable of staining everything it comes into contact with. Please make sure to take care when using it. AKA permanent magnet strong magnetic fields carrier fluid
Ferrofluid should never be used for applications involving loudspeakers. Ferrofluid can be hazardous or even fatal if swallowed or if it enters airways. Ferrofluid can cause skin irritation or serious eye irritation.
