Our DIY kits are specially put together for Do-It-Yourselfers who want the experience of building a wind turbine from the basic raw materials. We provide the plans and the specialty products that you can’t find at a local hardware store. You will need to provide the construction materials and the elbow grease.

These kits are based on the plans of Hugh Piggott from Scoraig Wind in England. Each kit contains Hugh’s popular book, A Wind Turbine Recipe Book – The Axial Flux Alternator Windmill Plans, August 2010 “English Units” Edition. The kits also contain a set of Neodymium (NdFeB) N42 super powerful magnets, a 10-11 lbs spool of Heavy Build magnet wire (200 degrees Celsius), commercial grade fiberglass blades, hub, and nose cone. Bolts & nuts are not included.

Our commercial grade blades are superior to the blades found in many kits because they are pre-balanced at the factory, quality finish, and S809 airfoil design for superior performance and lower startup speeds.

Please Note:
• In this project you will be using the following tools or similar alternatives: drill, clamps, multimeter, soldering iron, arc welder, chop saw, metal shears, drill press, angle grinder. The list is not comprehensive and you may be able to get by without some of the above, but if you are not comfortable using tools like these, you need to buy more of a finished product instead of the kits.
• The power output of the kits below is the rated output based on industry standard wind speeds. For most of the United States, your output will be lower.
• Blade length is measured in “rotational diameter” – the actual length is roughly half the diameter
• The quantity of magnets and wire gauge are based on specifications from Mr. Piggott’s book
