Wind turbine can be done by a handy man with a much lower cost and which has been proved to be a way for fun and save. This DIY kits is specially put together for who want the experience of building a wind turbine from the basic raw materials. In this DIY kits, we provide the plans and the major products that you can't find at a local hardware store. The other items can be acquired easily for free or at a much low cost except the pole. Besides that, you will need to provide the construction materials and the elbow grease.
This kit is based on the polular plan complied by Mr. Hugh Piggott from Scoraig Wind in England, which is included in this kit. The kit also contains a set of neodymium (NdFeB) N42 super powerful magnets, a 10-11 lb spool of Essex heavy build magnet wire (200 degrees Celsius), a set of commercial grade fiberglass blades, hub and nose cone.
Our commercial grade blades are superior to the blades found in many kits because they are pre-balanced at the factory, quality finish with S809 airfoil design for superior performance and lower startup speeds.
The power output of the kit is rated based on wind speed of 22 mph. The blade length is measured in rotational diameter so the actual length of each piece is roughly half of the diameter. The quantity of magnets and wire gauge are based on specifications from Mr. Piggott's book.
This 2000W kit includes:
- A Wind Power Recipe Book complied by Hugh Piggott, i.e. A Wind Turbine Recipe Book, The Axial Flux Alternator Windmill Plans,
- Three fiber glass commercial grade wind turbine blades, which can make a 13.1 foot rotor. The matching hub and nose cone.
- Twenty four pieces of powerful neodymium magnets with the dimensions of 2" x 1" x 1/2". Grade N42
- One spool of Superior Essex magnet wire, heavy build insulation with 200 degree working temperature. 10-11 lb spool with 14 AWG by default. Since the output voltage is related the gauge of the wire, you can choose different gauge per your preference without extra cost.
