The kit includes a copper tube and 4 pieces magnets which are in various dimensions and made of different materials. The kit is designed to show the effects of the different sizes and different materials.

Faraday's law of induction is a basic law of electromagnetism predicting how a magnetic field will interact with an electric circuit to produce an electromotive force (EMF)—a phenomenon called electromagnetic induction. It is the fundamental operating principle of transformers, inductors, and many types of electrical motors, generators and solenoids.

Lenz's law tells us if an induced current flows, its direction is always such that it will oppose the change which produced it.

Phenomenon: A magnet is dropped down a copper pipe and feels a resistance.

Reason: Based on Faraday's law, the falling magnet induces a current in the copper pipe and, by Lenz's Law, the current creates a magnetic field that opposes the changing field of the falling magnet. Thus, the magnet is "repelled" and falls slowly. 

Observations with the kit:

1. With the same diameter,  the thicker magnet falls slower than the thinner magnet. 

2. With the same thickness, the larger magnet falls slower than the smaller magnet.

3. With the same dimensions, the stronger magnet falls slower than the weaker magnet.
