The Disc Neodymium Magnets refer to the NdFeB Rare Earth Magnets when the diameter is larger than the thickness. The cylinder neodymium Magnets refer to the NdFeB Rare Earth Magnets when the diameter is smaller than or equal to the thickness, where we start to call the thickness length. Since they are all round, we put them in the same category for easy search.
The smallest disc magnets we have in stock is 2mm x 2mm and the largest is 6”. In most cases, you may be able to find your magnets in stock but in case you cannot find, we can custom make for you. The largest disc neodymium magnets we can make is 8” in diameter and about 1” thick. And the thickest disc neodymium magnets we have ever made is 3”. There are two different ways to magnetize the disc or cylinder magnets, i.e. axially magnetizing or diametrically magnetizing. Axially magnetized magnets means the magnetic flux are parallel to the disc or cylinder axis. So in this case, the N and S poles are on the flat surfaces. Diametrically magnetized means the magnetic flux are across the axis of the disc or cylinders, so the N and S poles are on the opposite half curve sides. The disc neodymium magnets are the most popular shapes among all kinds of neodymium magnets since it’s easy to apply. You can simply drill a hole in wood and plug a disc or cylinder magnet in it with some glue. It’s also easy to use in the plastic injection process. To make it better, CMS Magnetics has developed some products like adhesive magnets and countersunk (sink) hole magnets. The magnet with adhesives are used in printing industries to expedite the manufacturing process and the countersunk hole magnets provide a way to fix the magnet as easy as a snap.
